What We Do: Pharmacy
TF pharmacy provides high quality medicine at the cheapest price possible. In order to ensure the cheap cost, TF buys the medicines directly from the manufacturer and therefore eliminates the wholesaler and retailer margins. Seeing as TF also runs the health clinics, TF ensures that the practicioners prescribe only those medicines that are necessary (usually doctors are under pressure from medicine companies to prescribe unnecessary medicines and/or medicines that cause negative side effects). TF also performs various quality tests to make sure that the medicines will be of good quality.
TF works through two kinds of distribution centers: Village-level Healthcare Centers (VHC) and Clinics. The VHC are situated in rural areas, while the clinics supply medicines to the big centers and to towns. TF provides all types of medicines, including haematinics, ayurvedic, generic over-the-counter products, antibiotics and medicines to treat chronic disorders, diabetes and heart disorders.
In the past, TF designed a delivery kit for use in villages. This kit was first used only in the villages, but it is now used in ambulances across India as well. So far, the delivery kit has been used to ensure the hygienic birth of more than five million babies in Gujarat.
